Sachiko Brockbank
Decided to leave family and friends behind and explore what this world/ my life can offer at age 15 and came to Canada though I had no idea which way was up. Attended high school in a small town of Crowsnest Pass in Southern Alberta, and completed post secondary education in Lethbridge. Did pre-Ed initially to become a math and science teacher, but found the passion in nursing when my dream of being a teacher began to appear less and less attractive… Also found my love of my life in nursing school — a former medic, current vascular surgery nurse 👨‍⚕️ Moved to Calgary (hubby’s hometown) and I have done various faucets of primary care nursing. My passion lies with preventive medicine. As an extension of my passion, I became a certified foot care nurse to help preserve patients feet as long as possible — some influence from my vascular surgery nurse husband who sees foot or leg amputation cases all the time. Outside of work, I enjoy hanging out with my two kids especially in nature. I may live in a city, but I am a country girl after all. You can find me kayaking, biking, hiking, and hunting (yes, I can shoot and I can shoot straight) in nature outside of work. I love sage meadows as I am a firm supporter of complimentary medicine. When the Easter and western medicine can be used harmoniously (like the practice in Japan) and other forms of health care professionals can support each other, the optimal health can be achieved much easier! That’s why I take ibuprofen and do yoga daily and see massage therapist who works closely with my chiropractor to manage my aches and pain that come from mom life/nurse life!
