Renee has been working as a Registered Dietitian for over 18 years and has a passion for helping individuals improve their health through nutrition counselling and education. She specializes in the non-diet and Health at Every Size (HAES®) approach.
The HAES® approach is one rooted in kindness and compassion and focuses on healthy behavior change and not on weight as an outcome measure for success. Renee knows fad diets and yo-yo dieting approach takes a toll on our mental and physical health. Renee supports her clients to make positive nutrition changes so they feel better without a focus on weight loss.
Renee also works with clients who have undiagnosed or diagnosed eating disorders. She works with you alongside a team (a psychologist, your physician) to support you to recover and heal your relationship with food. Renee is a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor™ and is registered with the College of Dietitians of Alberta. Please note all appointments are virtual at this time.
Accept and respect the inherent diversity of body shapes and sizes and reject the idealizing or pathologizing of specific weights.
Support health policies that improve and equalize access to information and services, and personal practices that improve human well-being, including attention to individual physical, economic, social, spiritual, emotional and other needs.
Promote flexible, individualized eating based on hunger, satiety, nutritional needs, and pleasure, rather than any externally regulated eating plan focused on weight control.
Acknowledge our biases, and work to end weight discrimination, weight stigma, and weight bias. Provide information and services from an understanding that socio-economic status, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, and other identities impact weight stigma, and support environments that address these inequities.
Support physical activities that allow people of all sizes, abilities, and interests to engage in enjoyable movement, to the degree that they choose.
