If you missed your periods or found positive with a pregnancy test at home, just book an appointment with us and we shall confirm your pregnancy clinically and recommend for prenatal diagnostic services offered in our Pregnancy Testing Clinic and any other additional tests and ultrasound required.
There are two types of pregnancy tests; one uses a urine sample done at the Pregnancy Testing Clinic, the other a sample of blood test usually done at the Calgary Laboratory Services.
Pregnancy tests work by checking your urine (pee) for a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). Your body only makes this hormone if you’re pregnant. HCG is released when a fertilized egg attaches to the lining of your uterus — when pregnancy begins.
